Presence Detector, 2016
Processing program, projectors, Microsoft Kinect, Arduino network
This artwork asks two questions – “is there anybody here?” and “is there anybody moving?”. The answers to these questions are provided by a Microsoft Kinect, which is programmed to detect the presence and movement of people. This data is transformed into a live visualisation which scrolls continuously around the installation space. The upper half of the visualisation represents the number of people detected, whilst the lower half represents the detection of movement. Static images of the visualisations this artwork produces can be found here.
Produced during a year long research project at the University of Huddersfield
